Theyyam is a ritualistic practice of devotion from the Malabar coast of Kerala in the south of India where men adorn the spirits of Gods long gone and encompass their Myth and Legend and propels it forth into the present. Theyyam is a big part of the identity of these lands which is also where I was born and raised. Theyyam is traditionally performed only by men, these images are an imaginary journey into my childhood consciousness of being mesmerised by these gods who are human but as a part of a separate reality that may never exist. These images have been made using original Theyyam images combined with Ai image generation and a piece of the child that was me.
